THE WOKINGHAM AND DISTRICT ASSOCIATION FOR THE ELDERLY

THE WOKINGHAM AND DISTRICT ASSOCIATION FOR THE ELDERLY (Wade)

About us

Wade is a registered charity whose aim is to promote the welfare of the elderly in the Wokingham Borough and surrounding areas. The Charity was founded by the late Jean Davy, a former Mayor of Wokingham, and the Day Centre at 40 Reading Road, Wokingham was opened in 1974. Our Registered Charity Number is 1178937.

Wade membership and the use of the Day Centre is open to anyone who is sixty or over and living in the Wokingham Borough and surrounding areas. Wade offers a place for it's Members to have a break from their own homes (many of whom are very isolated), social interation with others and a hearty, two course cooked lunch. It also provides some day time respite for their carers/familes.

The Centre opens from 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank and public holidays).

Our Patron is Mrs Lucy Zeal, High Steward of Wokingham. Wade is governed by a board of Trustees, led by our Chair, Philip Mirfin.

Wade has to make continuous and vigorous efforts to raise funds and donations in order to keep the Day Centre up and running for those who heavily rely on our services in the community. Please do get in touch if you would like to make a contribution.

We welcome Volunteers of any age wishing to support to the aims of Wade, both in the Day Centre and our charity shop in Wokingham town centre.
